Outdoor Education

Stories from the extensive range of Outdoor Education trips highlight the wonderful store of experiences that Billanook students share and which last a lifetime. The program provides an opportunity for students to acquire self-knowledge, an understanding of and sensitivity to the environment and to develop and exercise leadership.

Year 7
Jungai Outdoor Centre

A five day program offering a ‘taster’ of canoeing, high and low ropes, orienteering, Aboriginal cultural sessions, ‘raft building’ and overnight camping. A program devoted to enjoyment and excellent pastoral care/development.

Year 8
Eildon and Wanggai

A five day mobile program built around bushwalking. The students will complete a three day/three night bushwalk as well as participating in a high ropes session and other skill-building activities at the centre.  The program focusses on personal routines and the development of skills and knowledge, important to individuals recreating responsibly in the outdoors.

Year 9
Walhalla and Mountain Rivers

A five day program taking place in and around the historic towns of Walhalla, Erica and the Thomson River.  The program is filled with adventures and challenges and is an important opportunity to form new friendships and to strengthen peer and staff relationships.  All of the skills acquired during previous outdoor programs will need to be called upon, especially those revolving around group work, navigation and judgement.
