Outdoor Education

Stories from the extensive range of Outdoor Education trips highlight the wonderful store of experiences that Billanook students share and which last a lifetime. The program provides an opportunity for students to acquire self-knowledge, an understanding of and sensitivity to the environment and to develop and exercise leadership. During VCE, students are able to participate in the ODYSSEY, a once in a lifetime, self - sufficient outdoor exploration.


Year 10
Alpine National Park or Wilson’s Promontory National Park

A challenging five day self-catered, bushwalking program that requires students to demonstrate good levels of personal and group skill/knowledge.


Year 11

Students learn about individual relationships with the natural environment, factors affecting access to the outdoors, human impacts on nature and nature’s impact on humans, outdoor recreation skills and the ‘Leave No Trace’ principles. Practical outdoor experiences total 40 hours.


Year 12

Students learn about human relationships with the Australian environment, the impact of humans, the environmental movement, conflict in the outdoors, creating a sustainable future. Practical outdoor experiences total 40 hours.
