An enriching life of openness, confidence, curiosity and independent thinking begins at Billanook.
Your child will have choices that range from English and Mathematics through to Business Management, Theatre Studies and Languages.
As students enter Senior School, they are also offered the opportunity to undertake accelerated VCE subjects in Year 10. Accelerated subjects can also help provide your child with a better understanding of VCE processes, greater appreciation of VCE requirements, and a greater breadth of studies so they can choose more widely in Years 11 and 12.
Subjects offered at VCE:
“Billanook graduates are well-rounded individuals, resilient in the face of challenge, assured through a belief in self, with respect for others and acceptance of difference. Borne out of a strong sense of community, both local and global, they are caring and compassionate, not afraid to take initiative and ably equipped with the skills to do so.”Roger Oates – Principal

Our curriculum is one that evolves for each student and is transferable throughout different disciplines and subjects. It is not subject-specific, but rather a way of linking seemingly unrelated topics and subject areas. This allows for an onward journey through further education and life, equipping our learners with strategies and techniques to embrace any situation encountered.
In addition to completing their VCE, many students select to attain practical industry training known as VET Studies. Vocational Studies can enrich and diversify a child’s VCE experience. Billanook students can access over 30 different VET programs as part of Billanook’s membership of the Yarra Valley VET Cluster Group.
After successful completion of a two-year program, students receive their VCE as well as an industry-approved certificate in their chosen field. All VET courses contribute towards a student’s final ATAR score.

Senior students may also seek to study a university enhancement subject as part of their Year 12 program of studies. Most students who choose this pathway are high-performing students looking for a tertiary extension beyond what is offered at VCE.
Subjects cover a whole range of academic disciplines including accounting, history, geography, chemistry, mathematics, legal studies, philosophy, psychology and a wide variety of languages.
A range of universities offer University Enhancement Studies, including Monash University, The University of Melbourne, Deakin University and RMIT.
