Our beautiful natural environment at Billanook immerses and engages children in sustainable living principles. With their gumboots on, the children and Educators embark on various exciting adventures – exploring and playing in their natural surrounds. Bush Kinder provides regular opportunities to build upon confidence, self-esteem and independence as well as personal, social and emotional development. Skills such as team-building, cooperation, open discussion and safe risk taking are fostered in a fun and natural setting. Our early learners develop a sensitivity to and appreciation of their natural environments, and build upon their natural inclination for exploration, and caring for our earth (Country).
We work hard to create a community where our children, families and educators feel a sense of belonging to our community through being inclusive of all cultures and ways of being. Connections with the wider community external to the College are also valued and fostered. We delicately cultivate ethics of equity and justice bringing about awareness of complexities both within our local and global communities. Through our connection to country, we respectfully acknowledge First Nations’ cultures and recognize their significant heritage and future role in our country.
With a variety of specialist Staff and subjects available, our Early Learning Program allows each student to pursue both their talents and interests across key subject areas such as Music, Drama, Library and Physical Education. The breadth of Curriculum offered in the early years enables students to sample a range of experiences and supports them to build on their confidence and interest in learning.
We strongly believe that every child is strong and capable of participating and contributing to their learning environment through the prior knowledge and experience theybring, and the connections and relationships they build with others. Our Program aims to support each child as they explore their own sense of self and empower them to express an opinion on matters which affect them and advocate their rights as active citizens in our community.
